Dear Family and Friends,
This week had been a busy one. In the whole Binalonan area (my current area) we only have 4 Elders. 2 for the branch and 2 for the ward. This week Elder Cureg (branch elder) received an emergency transfer to work in the mission office as the recorder. So it left us with Elder Patterson in the branch so he became my companion with Elder Abril. We also now have to split our days into 2 so we can visit both the branch and the ward, needless to say there has been a lot of walking. I have also had to step up as the house chef as we lost our chef to the transfer as well. I have done a good job and so far, Elder Abril and Elder Patterson love my cooking! I learned a lot of it from Elder Cureg before he left, I now know how to make Adobo, Pigar-Pigar, Fried Rice, and many other stir-fry-like dishes.
The other day we were walking after a lesson and came across a man walking his carabao and Elder Patterson joking asked Elder Abril if he could ask the owner if we could ride the carabao. Well, he actually asked and we all got to take a picture with it! There really is never a boring day here!

Now about the rat thing. This morning I was going outside to take my daily bucket shower (we have a nice cement shed I take showers in), as I was walking to the shed ready to go with my towel I saw a rat the size of Texas run past. Well this scared me pretty bad and responded with finding the nearest pole and in my battle uniform (consisting of only a towel around my waist) I attempted to kill it. Well the lucky guy got away, but I have a feeling that I will be seeing him again very shortly.
Now just a quick spiritual thought for the week. Before my mission I had viewed the atonement as just admitted that I did something wrong and moving away from sins. But I see it now as a gift to be better. A vessel for me to progress, be happier, repair the broken parts, and move forward not just cleaner, but stronger. An example I related to a recent convert earlier this week was about repairing a tricycle. We all have to drive the tricycle to move forward, and the journey sometimes goes uphill, sometimes the incline is higher than other times, but we still need to go forward. Sometimes we pop a tire, and have to pull over for a bit. The important part is to fix the problem to best of your abilities and the Lord will help you get back on the road, but sometimes the hardest part is for us to flag him down. For those of you in Utah or the USA in general its easy to tell when someone needs help because they have their blinkers on, and their hood is up. So its easy to recognize and give assistance when this happens. The same applies to the atonement, sometimes we just need to pop the hood and turn on the blinkers so someone can help us. Sometimes we may need a mechanic for more serious matters, and when that happens we get it taken care of immediately. Sometimes we need to help from others traveling the same road as we are, and people are always there to help you. Sometimes though we need more help, from a bishop or other priesthood holder authorized to do so. And when we do need that extra help, we should do so immediately.
That's all for this week! I love you all!!!
