Dear Family and Friends,
This week I have started a new hobby! Spider Fighting! I decided this week I was going to conquer my fear of spiders. And this week it happened. Me and another Elder in our house collect giant corn spiders and we battle them sometimes! Its really creepy at first, but now I can comfortably have spiders crawling over me!
I also took a fall this week on the bike which has left me with some chopped up hands (picture in the attachments). This the story: We had a dinner appointment, and while we were riding at night I heard a noise coming from my bike and so I looked down, and when I looked up I clipped my companion who had stopped because the road was broken and so I took one to the ground... But hey! Could have been worse! I still have my hands!
This week my companion and I were looking for people to teach when we found a less active woman who had recently moved to the area from Singapore. As we talked with her she opened up about some fears she had and reasons she came back home. One of my goals this week was to better empathize with others, and as I listened I noticed a change in the way I spoke. We shared with her a message about Easter and how because of the Saviour's sacrifice, He knows what she is dealing with. At that moment I felt overwhelming love for this woman and my thoughts said "I know He knows". The message of the Atonement is one of opportunity and freedom. One of my favourite scriptures describes the feelings that come from knowing the power of the Atonement, "Be still and know that I am God". To me this verse says we need not be scared, or sad, or distressed because Christ has already felt them for us. His endless sacrifice provides the answer to every known ill, because he felt our infirmities He knows how to "Succour his people". Take courage in this promise, for it applies to each of God's children. I have felt it, and I Know He knows.
Things are starting to cool down, and we have seen cool breezes this past week which have only strengthened our testimonies of the Lord's tender mercies. If you have forgotten to, find the small blessings in your life, and write them down, its hard to be sad when you see all the blessings you have!
Stay happy everyone!
