Dear Family and Friends,
Well first, ITS ANOTHER BOY! I'm training again with my companion. We are still ZL's but we are just temporary for the next 3 weeks until transfer week! I'm really excited too because he's from Kaysville, Utah so I can see his farewell when I get home!
In one of the pictures is me licking some Hickory Smoked Baby Back Ribs. This has a weird story. Anyone who is familiar with the Philippines knows that there isn't BBQ here. My companion and I passed by this weird small shop on the street called "Roadhouse" it made us laugh when it said it had ribs thinking it might have BBQ, but we tried it today... It had the best ribs I have ever had.... Another reminder not to judge the book by its cover, you might find good BBQ inside!
This week I studied about diligence. This is a subject that I thought I knew a lot better than I actually did. In D&C 10:4 it talks about not running faster than you can maintain, because you will end up not being able to finish what we need to. I think a quote sums it up:
"Small deeds done are better than great deeds planned." - Peter Marshall
The process of a life time is hard, it takes effort to stay on the right path, but we shouldn't go too fast. President used an example of pilots flying through turbulence. He said that new pilots often think that flying fast through turbulence is better, but experienced pilots know that its safer to take it slower. HE also goes on to states that we sometimes think that adding to our schedule and filing will make us feel better. There is nothing wrong with slowing down, but there is danger in delay. If we read the scriptures, they never state that one must "run" on the straight and narrow path, but simply "press forward". We must all keep a pace we can maintain. I can relate this to running cross country in high school. When runners start a race all the runners start a thing I like to call the funnel, where runners are all pushing to the center and the front. New runners often think that being at the front will give him success, but they waste energy trying to sprint at the beginning of a very long race, a race they can't sprint the whole way. This life isn't fast for a reason, its a test of pace. The creation took a week in God's time, and our Heavenly Father doesn't expect to forge his children in a day a month or even a decade, creation and progress need time, and that's where diligence comes in. In close, this is a favorite quote of mine:
"When the going gets tough, the tough get going"
Stick it out, it won't be perfect but it will be worth it!
Mahal ko kayo lahat!
