Dear Family and Friends,
Well I started training this week so it has been way fun! My companions name is Elder Sapaden, and we are in Malasiqui still. I will be in Malasiqui for 6 months now, so I have been crowned the Malasiqui King!! We started off our training with a good start, we dove right into work and had a good time doing so.
This week we saw our fair share of storms (notice I didn't say rain). On Saturday we had a lightning storm. There is something oddly fascinating about lightning storms, especially the ones here. You can see everything so clearly and since its so open here, you can see a lot. The lightning is like guns going off, and the flashes of light are like cameras flashing every second. The coolest thing for me is to see the lightning that doesn't strike the ground but watch it as it crawls across the sky, I took a video of it, so you can watch it when I get back.
We had a very heavy rain storm this Sunday. We were kept dry in houses and such but I found an unpleasant surprise when we returned to the house. The wind must really have good aim and a hatred towards me, but every single newly washed white shirt, garment, sock, pair of pants of mine were scattered across the muddy ground. Now no one else's clothes were touched except for mine, I don't what I did, but me and Mother Nature are not on good terms at the moment. I wanted to enjoy my "day of rest" but I had to spend my evening washing clothes so that I would have something to wear today...
Funny story. So Elder Sapaden and I went to teach an investigator, but when we called for her, her husband came to the door, and he wasn't too happy. He told us that his wife was angry with us because apparently one the members we worked with stole their cell phone. They gave us a specific date, and told us that they didn't want us back until they got their phone. Well as it turns out, we weren't in that area on the date and time they had mentioned. We later came to conclusion that they just didn't want to investigate anymore. Most times here, if an investigator wants to stop investigating they usually hide ( they are really good at this, on one occasion we literally saw one of our investigators run for the hills, like we were there to kill him, kinda funny) but this way is new.
I hope everyone is doing well, I am doing great here! I love and pray for all of you!
