Dear Family and Friends,
Due to popular request I will give you an in depth look at the average day of an MTC missionary. For those of you planning on serving a mission I hope this helps in your preparation.
6:30- As quoted on the door "Arise and Prepare", this is defiantly the hardest part of my day.
7:30- Breakfast, this usually consists of bagels, cereal, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, basically a continental breakfast
8:00- Personal Study, this about the only time you have to study the scriptures, language, or anything by yourself, without interruption (you still have to be within "sight and sound" of your companions though)
9:00- Companionship Study, we go over what we studied the past hour, and then we prepare to teach our investigators we scheduled for the day.
10:00 Language Study, this is when as a district you can go over anything that has anything to do Tagalog ( A lot of it is brushing up on our grammar, because we can't speak English anymore, I'll go into this later)
11:00- Gym Time, one of the most coveted moments of the day, we go to the rec. center and I usually play volleyball which I find surprisingly fun! And yes, if you were wondering, I can officially pull off a decent spike!
12:30- Lunch
1:15 Classroom Instruction, this is when we go over Language, Preach my Gospel, and teach our investigators. We have two teachers, one of which teaches us during this time. My teachers are Brother Kaka and Sister Stromberg, they are both really cool!
4:30- Additional study Time, I usually brush up on my Tagalog some more during this time, there is computer program I use to help me learn vocab.
5:30- Dinner, always a welcomed part of your busy missionary day, usually the best meal! Also this is for you Dad, they have a hamburgerbar, you pick up a patty, and they have a place to put on whatever you want to!
6:15- More Classroom Instruction, this is the same as last time!
9:30- Return to residence, this is usually the time I spend trading ties, talking to other Elders, checking up on pranks I've pulled, going to the vending machine and making a hot pocket, etc....
10:15- Quiet Time, just what it sounds like.
10:30- Lights Out! Your Done!
It usually like this everyday except p-day!
So, the triple bunk bed, a glorious feat of modern engineering and ingenuity. We got bored one day so we decided to take apart one of the bunk beds and add another floor to one of the other bunks. It fit so close to the ceiling that the person who slept there that night (you heard correct we used and slept in this thing overnight) had their nose touching the ceiling! After that we pushed all the beds together and made something we called the AT&T bed (it kinda looked like bars on a cell phone). After we tried it out over night we had a room inspection and we had to take it down and restore our room to its previous state, but it was well worth it.
I got my flight plans on Friday! I will be heading out to Manilla on the 30th! Our flight time is total of 18 hours, but it takes 31 hours to get there! I don't know if I'm ready!
Mahal Kita! (I love you),
